OUR SERVICES / TYPES OF MASSAGE
Our therapists are trained in a variety of modalities that can be incorporated into your massage.
Please discuss your specific needs with our friendly reception staff so they can help select a therapist that is right for you. Click on any of the modalities listed for a complete description of the various techniques that may be incorporated into your session.
• SWEDISH MASSAGE/ RELAXATION
This is the most common type of massage therapy in the U.S. Massage therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circular movements on superficial layers of muscle using massage lotions, gels or oils. Swedish massage therapy can be very gentle and relaxing. If you've never had massage before, this is a good one to try first.
• DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep tissue massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. The massage therapist uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage.
• POST/PRE NATAL MASSAGE
Also called prenatal massage, pregnancy massage is becoming increasingly popular with expectant mothers. Massage therapists who are certified in pregnancy massage know the proper way to position and support the woman's body during the massage, and how to modify techniques. Pregnancy massage is used to reduce stress, improve circulation, decrease swelling, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression. Patients should check with their doctors prior to receiving treatment.
* Due to health reasons we do not perform Therapy on any expectant mother that is within her first trimester (first 3 months of pregnancy).
• AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE
Aromatherapy massage is massage therapy with the addition of one or more scented plant oils or “essential oils” to address specific needs. The massage therapist selects oils that are relaxing, energizing, stress- reducing, balancing, etc. One of the most common essential oils used in aromatherapy massage is lavender. Aromatherapy massage is particularly suited to stress related conditions or conditions with an emotional component.
• HOT STONE MASSAGE
Heated, smooth stones are placed on certain points on the body to warm and loosen tight muscles and balance energy centers in the body. The massage therapist may also hold stones and apply gentle pressure with them. Hot stone massage is good for people who have muscle tension but prefer lighter massage.
• COUPLES MASSAGE
Enjoy a relaxing massage alongside your sweetheart, friend or family member. Perfect for anniversaries, birthdays, mother’s day or any other special occasion.
• CRANIAL SACRAL
Cranialsacral therapists use this therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia. By gently working with the spine, the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia, the restrictions of nerve passages are said to be eased, the movement of CSF through the spinal cord can be optimized, and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their proper position.
• TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Trigger points are tiny tight nodules that form in muscles causing referred pain. Sometimes myofascial pain can be linked to one or more trigger points. The treatment goals include alleviating muscle spasms, improving circulation, and releasing trigger points. The therapist applies direct momentary pressure to a trigger point to cause its release.
The environment is one of total relaxation, where soft light, soothing music and aromatherapy are used to put the client in a totally relaxed state. The therapist will transfer energy from their own hands to the client, by gently touching or holding their hands over different areas on the client’s body. Many people that undergo reiki are struck by the intense feelings of warmth and comfort they experience during a session. Others claim to actually feel the waves of energy transfer from their therapist into their bodies.
Although reflexology is sometimes called foot massage, it is more than simple foot massage. This is an ancient oriental technique where pressure is applied to specific points on the hands, feet and ears. These points or energy routes known as meridians or channels directly correlate with your bodies organs to promote wellness.Reflexology is very relaxing, especially for people who stand on their feet all day or just have tired, achy feet.
• CHAIR MASSAGE
This massage is done fully clothed in an ergonomically designed massage chair. This is ideal for people on the go or anyone who may feel uncomfortable disrobing.
